On Jan. 13, 2026, Alaska State Troopers’ Southcentral SWAT team assisted the Wasilla Police Department in arresting a man on an outstanding warrant. Aaron Dagley, 34, was believed to be armed and barricaded in a motel room. During the response, troopers spent hours negotiating with Dagley before they breached the door and deployed chemical munitions.

A Toksook Bay man who allegedly kidnapped a tribal police officer at gunpoint remains at large as of Jan. 14 and has been charged with additional crimes after evading capture in the Nelson Island community. On Dec. 2, 2025, the state issued an arrest warrant for 44-year-old Adrian Kailukiak, who days earlier allegedly took tribal police officer Gregory Karl hostage at gunpoint.

Man beat 3-year-old because boy didn’t want to work on his ABCs, warrant claims
WACO, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) - The U.S. Army sergeant charged in the harsh beating of a 3-year-old Texas boy told police he struck the child because he didn’t want to work on his ABCs, according to an arrest warrant. Paul Thames, 29, is charged with injury to a child and remained at the McLennan County Jail on a federal detainer as of Monday afternoon.

Fairbanks woman indicted on seven counts of theft of a firearm
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU) - A Fairbanks woman is wanted by the Alaska State Troopers on two $10,000 arrest warrants after being indicted by a Fairbanks Grand Jury on seven counts of theft of a firearm, according to the AST. Katrina Gallegos was indicted as a result of a months-long investigation by the AST Criminal Suppression Unit into multiple criminal acts in the Fairbanks area, troopers say.

On 01/18/2026 at approximately 2305 hours, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Wasilla reference multiple subjects discharging firearms at each other. Investigation revealed Matthew Bernier age 20 of Wasilla discharged a firearm towards another individual. Matthew was arrested for MIW 1 and Assault 3 and remanded at MSPT with no bail. The investigation is ongoing.
